Well here we are... 2014. The beginning of a New Year. This is my favorite time of year. This is the time after most people are done that stupid rat race tradition of running to the malls and decking the halls.

Gone are the pushing and shoving in the long lines. Gone are people fist fighting over a stupid item that is on "sale" now in "limited supply" (in 3-4 months you can buy a million of them cheaper). Gone are the problems that we humans place on ourselves for the Christmas Season.

Now that mankind's foolishness is over, it is the time to enjoy what I believe the season is truly about : Reflection on one's relationship with everything in the here and now vs. the New Year and beyond.

In 2014, many people will start a diet, quit smoking, or do something to try to better their lives. Their will be promises to do more, spend less, and join some group or organization. Becoming a better more healthy person is a good thing and now is the time most people refocus their lives. A time to rebuild, cleanup, or take time to reflect on one's Body, Heart, Mind, & Soul. Life is precious, and nobody is promised tomorrow. No man or woman will know the day nor the hour of the coming of their end.

The New Year is a good time for New Beginnings with Family, Friends, and Faith. It also is a great time to check out Linda Clark's latest music collection NEW BEGINNINGS.

Like this time of year, the CD New Beginnings has a clean and fresh tone. Linda Clark's vocal range highlights the smooth sounds which at times include Soul, light Jazz, and even a little slice of Funk. I challenge anyone to listen to this body of work after a bad day and not be relaxed and spiritually up lifted. It is a great CD to refresh a person's batteries and heal one's Body, Heart, Mind, & Soul from the daily stresses we place on ourselves.

A couple of highlights off of this wonderful CD are :

On Your Side
For me, this tune stands out on this album as one of the best. All of the components seem to fit nicely. The lyrics, the sound, and the vocals are done very well. Like most of this Album, the vocals are placed comfortably in the Soulful Gospel Range. It is spiced up with a bit of Funkified keys, to go along with the groove. It also contains a Rap cameo by Sir Walter Scott that works well in this version for me. I enjoyed the original version more vs. the remix which also appears on this Album.

Open Up Your Heart
Nice harmony vocals. Smooth, with a calming relaxing tone. The music on this cut is set softly in the background. The keys are set as a backdrop. The music flows and stays out of interfering with the vocals. The lyrics are full of Soul with a purpose and life changing meaning. I can picture this song being performed on a concert stage or in church.

Some of the lyrics on the album "new Beginnings" I have heard before in church or by reading the Bible. These words are meant to be shared. Borrowing lyrics is not plagiarism as long as you credit the source. Linda Clark may get credit for writing many of the songs on the album, but I believe that she will be the first to tell you about the true source.

New Beginnings has a nice range of vocals which Linda Clark seems to go in and out at will. Linda Clark has a GOD given talent and beside singing on this album, this U.S. Army Veteran who now currently resides in Virginia, produced this wonderful album.

This album was recorded, mixed and mastered at DaSpot Recording, BAMM Studios, and The Last Trumpet Studios. All of the production is ok however, because all of these hands were involved with the post production, a change between volume levels can be heard from one song to another. When recording at multiple facilities, it is important that someone does a Master Mix to clean up the album or polish any imperfections the original sound engineer may have missed. It can annoy some listeners to have to turn up or turn down the volume from song to song.

Now that 2013 is over, I am looking forward to the fresh start in the New Year of 2014. The CD titled "New Beginnings" by Linda Clark sets just the right tone for my thoughts about the New Year and beyond. Listening to New Beginnings will bring a smile to your heart. I highly recommend it for all.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone.
